Netflix Instant TV and Movie Picks

It's about to get crazy around here starting next week. The Dallas International Film Festival will be starting up, and then the elusive summer season of movies will begin. If you are lucky enough to be enjoying a three day weekend, here are some films to keep you company on your day off. If you are working today, then, here's some titles to look forward to once you're off work!

This film needs another chance. I watched it in the middle of Fantastic Fest when the lack of sleep and copious amounts of beer was beginning to set in. I didn't understand all the praise. Not that it's a bad film, but I wasn't sure why it made tons of "Best of" lists. I realize now that I need to give this film another chance when there's ample time to focus on it.

I had no interest in seeing this film until my cohort wrote about it for his top ten films of the year, and it spiked my interest. Even though I'm still weary of watching a film with Robert Pattinson, I can always use a good film that comments on the state of modern culture.

This was my first taste of the ESPN series, 30 for 30. It's a fantastic look at the year the SMU football team got the "death penalty" from the NCAA for serious rules violations. It's heartbreaking to see this team go from one of the top football teams to absolute bottom.

Javi will be back next week with some awesome themed column!

The PAIN & GAIN Trailer is a Bro-tastic Fun Time!

Michael Bay only works in certain modes, for me. whenever he tries to go beyond raunchy humor and ridiculous action, he fails. Look at all but the first TRANSFORMERS movies as an example. But in PAIN & GAIN, he appears to be just going back to that silly, violent and "humourous" type of action movie he is known for. Check out this red-band, totes NSFW trailer after the break.

YOU'RE NEXT Trailer Drops!

YOU'RE NEXT has had to jump through a lot of hoops to get here. It had its U.S. premiere at Fantastic Fest in 2011; however, it only had one screening. The second screening got pulled by the studio, and so it became THE film that everyone wished they had seen, but only a few did. Now, it's finally gone through the studio ringer and has a release date.

The buzz about this film is insane coming out of SXSW. Thankfully, most people are keeping their mouths quiet about the details, but word on the interwebs is this film has a great spin on the home invasion horror film.

Here's the synopsis:

In the film, while on a getaway, the Davidson family comes under attack. When Crispian Davidson brings his new girlfriend  along to celebrate his parent's wedding anniversary, the family's evening together is shattered when a gang of mysterious killers begin to hunt the family down with brutal precision. Unfortunately for the killers however, one of the victims harbors a secret talent for fighting back.

Apple has the trailer, and check it out after the break!

#Godzilla2013 Entry #8: GODZILLA VS. THE SEA MONSTER

GODZILLA VS. THE SEA MONSTER(1966)

Synopsis: When a storm causes his brother to go missing, a young man stumbles unto an island terrorized by a giant lobster and an evil group trying to take over the world.

THE WOLVERINE Trailers Drops!

Quite surprising that it took THE WOLVERINE's marketing department to finally get some trailers out to the mainstream audience. If they're banking on a big summer blockbuster, they might need to up their game a bit. This film has some stiff competition with IRON MAN 3, SUPERMAN, and PACIFIC RIM for the top spot of the summer.

But we finally have our first look at this film, which will be set after the events of X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, which was pretty bad. But hopefully the filmmakers learned from the many, many problems of the 2009 Wolverine origins film because that movie was downright awful.

Here's the premise:

Set sometime after X-MEN:THE LAST STAND, Logan travels to Japan, where he engages a mysterious figure from his past in a fight that has lasting consequences. Vulnerable for the first time, and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel, but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than ever before.

I love comedy. I love listening to stand up sets, listening to various comedy podcasts, and watching specials. I'm actually amazed at the great titles that are available on Netflix. Here are some of my favorite ones:
