Austin's Alamo Drafthouse Will Be Showing "Summer of '82" Series of Movies, Makes Us Wish We Could Move Down There ASAP.

If the increase of trailers on television are any indication, you know that summer is just around the corner. Even though you may be counting down the days until THE DARK KNIGHT RISES or STEP-UP 4, The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin has decided to celebrate summer in a different way.

The Drafthouse will be showing movies that were released in the summer of 1982, which they dub as "The Greatest Summer of Movies...Ever", which makes us want to move down to Austin, like yesterday.

Check out the trailer for this event after the jump.

Update: The Almost Annual Summer Bet

A couple months ago, we posted about our Almost Annual Summer Bet details.  Well, with one movie in the bag, TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON, we have the week one results.

( Originally when we set our terms, both movies were being released on a Friday.  However, as we all know, Transformers was moved up two days earlier.  So, we decided that the winner would be the biggest gross after 7 days. )

After 7 days in the theatre, Transformers has made a whopping $188,588,858....damn.  And that's only the 6th best gross for a movie after the first 7 days.  Oh man, do my Harry Potter fans need to come out in droves to help me win this.  Movies 6 and 7 each take spots 10 and 11 respectively on this same list, so there is hope for me.   Only time will tell.

But seriously...I HAVE TO WIN THIS!

TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON is now in 3D IMAX and theaters.

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2 will be released July 15th, 2011.

With an amazing 3-D Trailer, GREEN LANTERN goes to the top of my summer movies

Javi here, with some great footage to share. I know we're a little behind the big kids, but better late than never. Right around the time the new TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON 3D trailer came out, we got another in the form of GREEN LANTERN. Up until this point, I've been rather lukewarm towards this movie even though I am huge fan of the character, the mythos, and the book. Plus, I just recently read through all of the the Sinestro Corps War, Blackest Night and the first trade of Brightest Day.

My damn near apathy comes from the weird costume, and the thought that it was just gonna be a B-level superhero movie this side of DAREDEVIL and THE FANTASTIC FOUR. With this new trailer however, we get more of a cool STARS WARS vibe to the movie, and you see how it is embracing the sci-fi elements of the franchise. Check out the trailer below.
