Take the First Look at Guillermo Del Toro's Rowbits for his New Movie, PACIFIC RIM!

Javi here. If you don't know, I'm a fan of robots. I'm also a fan of movies. I'm a bigger fan of robots in movies that are not directed by Michael Bay. With that being said, I am so excited for director Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming PACIFIC RIM. This was the project that was started after his previous movie, AT THE MOUNTAIN OF MADNESS, was cancelled. PACIFIC RIM, according to IMDB, is about "When an alien attack threatens the Earth's existence, giant robots piloted by humans are deployed to fight off the menace."

Now, with this poster coming to you thanks to Badass Digest, shows the exact scale of the robots. That is to say, they're freaking huge! This movie is looking to be the culmnation of a lot of good things finally coming together, an actual Guillermo Del Toro movie, guys getting into huge robots and then figting monsters in said huge robots. This is basically a serious look at all of those crazy Super Sentai shows from Japan that inspired the robot/monster parts of the Power Rangers series. Plus, it stars Idris Elba. So what do you guys think? I'm really interested to see how they work on the scale of these machines and the monsters. I want to be in awe of them and I really hope that the movie gets this across. Stay tuned here for more news on the movie as they come to us.

PACIFIC RIM is directed by Guillermo Del Toro, written by Travis Beacham and stars Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, and Charlie Day.

Trailer for GEORGE HARRISON: LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD Makes Me Happy

Javi here. I'm usually very wary of rock music and movies, and concert DVDs feel like a cheap cash-grab unless it's a one time event being documented. But, any apprehensions that I might have about them go out the door when The Beatles come into the picture.  They're my favorite band ever, and I say this without hyperbole. I can listen to their entire discography from start to finish twice if I wanted to. The quality of the songwriting coupled with the influence that they have had blows my mind every time.

George Harrison was my favorite one as his songwriting style, and his lifestyle has always been something I've admired to no end. Being the goody-two-shoe that I was, I never skipped school until the day that he died where I went home played Beatles CDs and jamming to his songs. With this I present you the trailer for the new Martin Scorcese documentary on the "quiet" Beatle and his life after the band.  Thanks to Badass Digest for the heads up.

Sweet Intimidating Mustaches! Daniel Day Lewis in Zack Snyder's Superman?

There are actors and then there's Daniel Day-Lewis. The man has had an amazing career full of critically acclaimed works, and a great ability to grow an awesome mustache and recited the line that inspired the name of this blog. The big complaint about him is how picky he can be with his roles. I believe my diminutive partner has claimed he could be blamed of picking only Oscar Bait role, which I couldn't defend because on the surface it seems pretty true.

But, according to Badass Digest and Moviehole, he is being considered for a role in the upcoming Superman movie by director Zack Snyder. I'd rather not speculate, because frankly, I'm not that saavy, but I really like BAD's prediction of Day-Lewis playing Superman's dad Jor-El. I would say Jonathan "Pa" Kent, if Kevin Costner wasn't rumored to be playing him already. At this point it's anyone's guess. I will say that as a great fan of the man, I hope Day-Lewis starts taking more high profile and less "artsy" roles all the time. I'd love to see him in a straight up comedy (I know, I know wishful thinking.) Who else do you guys think he could play apart from Jor-El or Jonathan "Pa" Kent?
