SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR Trailer Drops!

It's been almost ten years since the first SIN CITY film, and now directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are back for the sequel. The first film was one of the more highly stylized comic films, and the new one looks just as intense. A DAME TO KILL will be primarily based on the second book in the Sin City series.

Here's the synopsis:
In Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film Frank Miller’s Sin City) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.

For Funsies: Join the Cobra Special Forces Team!

Guys. In less than two months, the greatest sequel of last year will finally be released... G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. We've seen multiple trailers over the past year and half, and now in the final months leading up to the release, it seems the marketing department has started a viral campaign.

Up first is a recruiting video to join the evil Cobra Special Forces.

So which side will you choose? Are you a Joe? or a Cobra?

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION will be released March 29, 2013, is directed by John Chu, and stars Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Adrianne Palicki, Byung-hun Lee, and Channing Tatum

New G.I. JOE RETALIATION Trailer Drops!

The first G.I. JOE film did not interest me. At all. It looked silly and boring. However, after much persuasion, my cohort convinced me to watch it, and man was I shocked at how fun the film was and how much I ended up enjoying it. When the sequel was announced, there was excitement all around the blog. While seeing MISSION: POSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL in IMAX, we saw this trailer and nearly jumped out of our seats with excitement.

Unfortunately, to everyone's dismay, the film got pushed back from a June 2012 release to March 2013. Studios initially said it was to up-convert to 3D; a decision I would assume one would make before releasing a bunch of trailers or a multi-million dollar Super Bowl spot. Then reports came out that producers wanted to cash in on the success of Channing Tatum and expand his part in the second film. That, I can agree with.

But now we're in the home stretch to find out if delaying RETALIATION almost a year will be worth it. Javi seems to think so. This film is one of his most anticipated of 2013.

Thanks to Break.com, we have a new trailer for the film which features more ninjas and Bruce Willis.

New International LOOPER Trailer

Hard to believe, but yes, there is hope after the summer season. Usually there is the lull until all the Oscar contenders come out, but not this year. Rian Johnson's LOOPER will be around to get us through the fall. We posted the initial trailer a couple months ago, but now the new international trailer has been released.

Of course if you want to stay completely in the dark, all trailers should be avoided. Even director Rian Johnson said today on his twitter, "If you're already set on seeing Looper, I'd avoid any trailers from here on out. They don't ruin the movie, but they tip a few little things." So take that how you will.

THE EXPENDABLES 2 Trailer Drops... So Grab Your Dr. Pepper 10 and Check It Out!

I remember a couple summers ago when the first EXPENDABLES and THE 'A' TEAM came out in the same summer. I felt like I had to eat some red meat and get into a bar fight to even be allowed in the movie. However, those seem pretty tame (in retrospect) to what will be released at the end of this summer.

Apparently most the boys, plus a few more, are back for THE EXPENDABLES 2. Check the trailer after the jump.

Cobra Hates On European Capitals In The New GI: JOE - RETALIATION Trailer

Javi here. Not going to lie, I think I am more excited for G.I.JOE: RETALIATION more than any other movie this summer. That's not to say that this will be better than THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, but part of me is freaking out that the Bat has been hyped up too much, and the movie will never live up to it. This movie, on the other hand, can only go up. I'm a G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA apologists. I believe it was the movie goofy and ridiculous movie that TRANSFORMERS should have been. And now with director John Chu's insane looking, ninja-filled actionfest, I am just ecstatic. Now, thanks to Machinima and via Badass Digest, we have the newest trailer. about it. You can see the trailer after the break.

LOOPER Trailer Drops!

Director Rian Johnson isn't exactly a household name. He's only made two feature films, BRICK and THE BROTHERS BLOOM, and has directed a couple of TV episodes from Breaking Bad and Terriers. However, that will probably change this fall.

His next film is LOOPER, a syfy time-travel movie. One aspect of Johnson that makes us here love him so much is he always seems to bring his own uniqueness to a film genre. BRICK was a film noir style set in a high school setting, and THE BROTHERS BLOOM was a con-man "period" piece. And now he is about to tackle science fiction. Yes please.

Check out the trailer after the jump.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION Super Bowl Trailer

The Super Bowl is this Sunday, and whether or not you're a football fan, you may just tune in for the funny commercials. And even if those can't wet your whistle, there are always several spots for the summer blockbusters. Usually the spots will be live Sunday, but some are already appearing.

Here's the quick spot for G.I JOE RETALIATION that will air.

Now we've already seen the first trailer back in December, and now with this, we get our first glimpse of Cobra Commander. And of course more ninjas. Also, when did Jay Z's words become immortal? Doesn't really matter. Even though the first film didn't take too well with the critics, though we loved it here, this one looks like balls to the wall action.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION will be released June 29, 2012 starring Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, and Bruce Willis.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION Trailer Drops with A Lot Less Cobra Commander But A Lot More Ninjas

Jonesy here. Okay. I admit I did not see the first G.I. JOE in theaters. It looked silly and boring. However, I was proven wrong when Javi sat me down and made me watch it once it came on Netflix Instant.

So, we have been excited for the upcoming sequel from The Rock and Bruce Willis casting to being directed by one of our favorite darlings, Jon Chu (STEP UP 3D).....until the big casting news that Joseph Gordon Levitt would NOT be reprising his role as Cobra Commander (and really, he pretty much made the first film).

Now we have our first look at the upcoming sequel (via Machinima):

Okay. I am in no way familiar with the show, toys or comics; however, it appears the campy fun of the first movie is back! Ninja fight on a mountain side? I'm in! Since the first movie received less than stellar love from audiences, it seems the studio is banking Bruce Willis to draw in crowds for this film. With next summer being jam packed with "highly anticipated" movies, it'll be interesting to see how this will fair being released a week after BRAVE and ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER and days before THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN.

Javi: Just wanted to chime in real quick with some thoughts. To preface for those not cool and in the know, I loved the crap out of the first one for basically being a live cartoon. It was campy as all hell, cheesy, and I mean people called each other by their code names without an ounce of irony; you try calling someone Storm Shadow without wanting to laugh. But regardless, it was just ridiculous fun. With this trailer, my first reaction was that I was so bummed that Joseph Gordon Levitt and Christopher Eccleston would not be returning as Cobra Commander and Destro respectively, then while talking to Twitter's own @T16Skyhopp and @GeneralTekno, I realized that I was more attached to JGL being The Doctor "Rex" Lewis than I was for him being Cobra Commander.

But this trailer does have some fun stuff if you look carefully. Let's break them down!

  1. Cheesy Dwayne Johnson being cheesy
  2. Channing Tatum is back? But he disappears after the attack. Is he dead/kidnapped? How awesome would it be if every subsequent movie the entire Joe cast gets killed and replaced by a different one?
  3. Zartan President is an awesome concept
  4. Cobra Commander has much more recognizable costume this time around a much needed improvement over the last costume.
  5. Apparently GI Joe is a publicly known entity? I didn't know that. RE: The "President's" speech.
  6. More cheesy Dwayne Johnson being cheesy.
  7. OK, so apparently Storm Shadow is back...nope, I still wanted Destro more.
  8. COBRA WHITE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Ummmm... no to whoever remixed "Seven Nation Army"
  10. Snake Eyes doesn't have that dumb mouth piece thing anymore.
  11. Ninjas.
  12. Lady ninjas, not sure who they are. I'm not 100% versed in GI Joe lore.
  13. BFG!!!
  14. Apparently Storm Shadow is still a dick, killing tons of dudes.
  15. Who is that Jessica Rabbit-wannabe? She's with Cobra, right?
  16. Ninjas.
  17. Ninjas by a mountain.
  18. Flying ninjas.
  19. Is that Mortal Kombat's own Scorpion? Do I smell a cross over?
  20. Seriously, no dub-step remixes of White Stripes ever again!
  21. Willis seems to be playing the same character from RED. Great.
So there it is some random stuff I noticed, and honestly, I'm still wanting JGL and Eccleston, but unlike say, BATTLESHIP or another TRANSFORMERS movie, I'm actually not dreading this movie.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION will be released June 29, 2012 starring Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, and Bruce Willis.

Casting rumors: Bruce Willis in talks for G.I. Joe sequel

After raking in over $300,000,000 worldwide last year, a G.I. Joe sequel was inevitable.  We have learned that Bruce Willis is in talks to play General Joe Colton, the original G.I. Joe and the man behind the G.I. Joe strike team.

General Joe Colton

If a deal is made, Willis will join Channing Tatum, Ray Park, and Byung Hun-lee, who all will reprise their roles from the original, and join newcomers to the team: Dwayne Johnson, Ray Stevenson, RZA, and Adrianne Palicki.

Now, I never saw G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra in the theatres.  In fact, I never had any intention of seeing this movie...ever.  However, my cohort convinced me to watch one day, after it had arrived on Netflix Instant and after he had gushed about it multiple times to me, and I then understood the craze for the movie.  If Willis takes on the role of the original Joe, he would add a great element to the fun tone the original created.

We'll keep you updated as news is released.

G.I. JOE 2: RETALIATION will be released June 29th, 2012.

Red(2010)

Directed By: Robert Schwentke
Written By: Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber
Starring: Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Mary Louise Parker,
& Helen Mirren
Synopsis: When a retired CIA agent is suddenly a target of an assassination squad, he must
figure out who is behind the hit, recruiting his old teammates and a government employee in the process.

WARNING:MILD SPOILERS AHEAD

Jonesy- I liked the story. I thought it took too long to get to the real problem, but in other spy movies, you always got little hints of the mystery, and I don’t feel that you got enough of the mystery to keep me focused on guessing what was wrong.  I wanted to get to the real meat of who’s trying to kill Bruce Willis.

Javier- I also really liked the story, though I didn’t care for the mystery, and I was just taking it moment by moment. This movie was probably just as funny as Get Him to the Greek, which is one of the funnier movies we’ve seen this year.  So yea, the complaints are there, but for me it doesn’t really matter because I was having such a good time. I didn’t feel there were that many issues with the pacing did you?

Jonesy- I think there were pacing issues in the beginning, but once the four main characters got together, it was great. I wanted all four to get tougher faster.  I think getting to Helen Mirren took way too long.

Javier- And it felt a little cheesy you know? I hate making the comparison, but it felt like in Mortal Kombat they were trying to get all the main characters from the video game together, like “we gotta go to this guy for a really specific reason, and only X person that is vital to the plot later on can help us with in this exact moment.” The movie had that very campy and goofy style.

Jonesy-It’s funny because they’re old and they’re kicking ass

Javi- And they all had great chemistry.

Jonesy- I don’t think Bruce Willis’s character was as dynamic, and you never really find out much about him.  All you know is he was some ex-bad-ass-CIA dude. You find out a lot more about Freeman, Mirren, and Cox, but Willis is supposed to be the main character?  I liked Mirren the best.

Javier- I did too. Rawr.  Anyways, in terms of characters, I see what you’re saying about Willis not being dynamic.  What’s interesting is that later in the movie, the interrogation scene where Karl Urban is asking Sarah- “Do you know who Frank Moses is?”, that could’ve been a great scene where she finds out all of this messed up stuff that he did.  I kind of see what you’re saying; there could’ve been ways of showing more of his past than without exposition.  One thing I will complain is they tried to Liz Lemon-ize the Sarah character, and I know I’ve read this before.  It's where they play off an attractive woman as dorky or dumpy like the Tina Fey character in 30 Rock.  However, let’s face it, Tina Fey is gorgeous even if she acted as goofy as she did, she could get herself a guy.  That just kind of gets annoying to me.

Jonesy- I like that Sarah never shot a gun, that she helped but not in a violent way.  She was able to help in her own style, and she wasn’t a damsel in distress and wasn’t a super genius.

Javier- Going back to the story/character thing, I thought the Brian Cox character encapsulated everything that was cool and yet wrong with this movie.  I thought it was ridiculous how he shows up in the middle of the group getting hunted down in a non-armored car and helps them escape.

Jonesy- I also really enjoyed how Cooper (Karl Urban) was super developed. I felt more for him, and I understood his motivations more than I ever did for Bruce Willis. I understood where he was coming from, and it really should be the other way around.

Javier- Overall, I thought it was really enjoyable, and you shouldn’t really go in expecting too much. I was excited because I wanted to see Helen Mirren with a gun, and I was not disappointed, and I was surprised at how funny and amusing the movie was.  You won’t have to say it’s a guilty pleasure, which made me like it even more because it was genuinely funny and it was well acted.  The chemistry was great, and the story was solid.  If someone was to say, hey let’s go see Red; I’d probably see it again, especially in a big group of people

Jonesy- This is definitely a big group movie; you just have to go in expecting fun.  It’s one of the best action movies of the year.  I enjoyed it, but I still have issues with it.  I’d recommend it to anyone; it’s enough fun that most everybody could find something to like from it.  It’s very kick ass and funny and sweet…just an all around fun movie.
