Netflix Instant: Cool TV and Movie Picks

I'm not sure how he does it, but Javi is always better at writing his Netflix columns with themes. Again, mine isn't themed, but I have a TV series, foreign film, and documentary that have all found their place in my heart.

The Aaron Sorkin comedy that aired in the 90s and was way before its time. It's strange that this witty show was actually on prime time television and not housed at HBO. Nevertheless, it only last for two seasons, but its very Sorkin with its witty banter and character moments.

The first film that I saw at last year's Fantastic Fest. I wasn't sure what I was in for, but I thoroughly enjoyed this Robin Hood-esque tale. At first, this seemed like it would be a series caper drama, but it actually turned out to be a fun and somewhat goofy tale. You can check out my Fantastic Fest review here!

THE SWELL SEASON
One of my favorite musical duos and now I finally get to see their documentary! I have loved The Swell Season ever since I stumbled upon their first film, ONCE. In fact, that film is one of the first indie and obscure films that Javi and I found we had in common. I cheered when they won the Oscar for their song, "Falling Slowly," and now I cannot wait to watch their documentary.

That's it for me this week folks!

Trailer Breakdown: BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW

Javi here. This is very exciting news. Today I stumbled on the trailer for one of my honorary favorite movies of 2011, director Panos Cosmatos' BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW. This is great news because the movie was an intense visual and aural experience, and I'm glad to revisit it sooner than later. With this release, there is the hope that the amazing soundtrack will also be released soon as well. You can check out the trippy trailer below:
