Netflix Instant TV and Movie Picks: Film Festival Edition!

I know it's crazy, but I actually found a theme for this week! Netflix just dumped some films that I personally saw at film festivals, and coincidentally were some of my favorites. Now, the films are eclectic, but I enjoyed all of them and have linked the reviews as well.

A midnight film I saw at the Asian Film Festival of Dallas last year that I cried I was laughing so hard. It's full of cheesy acting and graphics but absolute ridiculous fun.

This was one of my favorites from the 2012 Dallas International Film Festival. I'm a sucker for anything related to dance, but this documentary has such heart as it follows young dancers on their quest to win at the annual Youth America Grand Prix.

I think we've applauded this film enough on this site, but here we go again! Even though we've moved on from Halloween, this film will still get you ready for next year. Here's our review from Fantastic Fest.

I'm not promising another themed column in a couple weeks. I might leave that to my cohort from now on.

Jonesy's Top Five of the Year (So Far)

We're only half-way through the year, and if I'm being honest, making this list wasn't the easiest to do. Unfortunately it wasn't because there were so many films to choose from, but there hasn't been many films that have stuck with me. I'm hoping the second half of the year proves to be better, but for now, in no particular order, here are my top five films (and some honorable mentions) for 2012...so far:

Most Anticipated DIFF Films of DIFF 2012- Jonesy Edition

Jonesy here with my highly anticipated films for the upcoming Dallas International Film Festival. Now I won't lie, there are many more movies I would love to add to this list, but Damon, Jessica, and Javi have them already on theirs. So needless to say there are some exciting films coming to Dallas in a few weeks. Surprisingly when putting together my list, I ended up with four documentaries. DIFF, for me, is always a place for me to see smaller docs that I wouldn't normally see.

So enough stalling...onto my list!
