The Good, the Bad, and the Weird: Lesser Known Movies Made in Dallas

For tomorrow's special fundraiser for the Dallas Producers Association fundraiser, IT CAME FROM DALLAS at the Alamo Drafthouse happening tomorrow Thursday, February 19 at 7:30 pm. Everyone knows that JFK, BOTTLE ROCKET, ROBOCOP and even PRIMER were all filmed here. After the break you can check out some of the lesser known, weirder movies that were filmed here with some trailers and links for you to purchase or stream the movies.

Javi's Top Ten Movies of 2013

Try as I may, I didn't reach my goal of watching 365 movies this year. But I was fortunate enough to see some amazing films in the meantime. As I do every year, I am taking into account movies that were released theatrically during 2013, and as always, they won't be in any particular order, except my absolute favorite movie of the year. There's no pretentiousness here, just movies that either spoke or made an impact on me.

Just like Jonesy, here's my favorite movies for the last six-ish months. It's been a rather interesting year in that I honestly haven't been to the theater that much. I've been focusing on looking at older movies, TV shows, and of course, my Godzilla project. But there are some definite gems. These are just personal favorites despite any critical acclaim:

So I am super sad that I won't be attending Sundance this year because I really wanted to experience the joys and cold of Park City. The big reason is I wanted to see the world premiere of UPSTREAM COLOR, the newest movie of PRIMER director Shane Carruth. Alright, y'all we can all stop holding our breaths. Shane Carruth is finally coming out with another movie! The director is famous for having created one of the best time travel movies ever, PRIMER, nine years ago on a shoestring budget and then essentially dissapearing from the movie world. Out of nowhere (and thanks to Apple via BAD) comes a new trailer and a new poster for his upcoming movie, UPSTREAM COLOR. Check it out after the break.
