New MAN OF STEEL Trailer Has 1000% More Zod

Forget all the whimsical and introspective teasers and the epic full length trailer (though that one is pretty awesome). This new MAN OF STEEL trailer focuses on the person who will more than likely steal, no pun intended, the film, General Zod portrayed by Michael Shannon. I have complete faith in Michael Shannon and his capabilities to portray evil. In fact, he's the main reason I've been so excited for this film.

We got a few seconds of his crazy eyes in the epic trailer, but here, we find out a little more of his intentions. This trailer also shows more/different pieces of action that he haven't seen in previous ones. Oh yes, and it has a bit more Amy Adams.

MAN OF STEEL Trailer Drops!

Could it be possible that a Superman movie could cause this much anticipation? The first few stills of the film looked a little cheesy, but then when the teaser trailer dropped, it made me sit up and pay attention. Also, seeing the teaser trailer on the IMAX screen may or may not have given me goosebumps.

Now, the full length trailer is here with tons and tons of footage including some humor and plenty of amazing action. There's so much to cipher through that this requires more than one view. Here's to hoping that director Zack Synder took a note from Christopher Nolan's, who served as a producer, book of how to make superhero movies and created a Superman film with some emotional depth.

Netflix Instant: TV and Movie Picks

It's about that time again. Time for another non-themed Netflix Instant column for this week. There are two on here that I thoroughly enjoy, for very different reasons, and one that I'm so glad it was added to Instant.

I first loved this story when I performed it as a reader's theatre piece in college. BUG was an off-Broadway show starring Michael Shannon, and it was creepy and made your skin crawl. So I was stoked when a few years later a film was made with Shannon reprising his role that he had on stage. It's a small psychological thriller which plays with your mind and questions whether the main characters are crazy or if they're being watched and followed by the government.

CHICO & RITA
Typically when Oscar season roles around, all the Best Animated Picture nominees comprise of a Pixar entry, Disney, Dreamworks, and maybe a random Fox or Paramount. Last year CHICO & RITA surprised everyone with their nomination. Before the Oscars and unless you made the film festival circuit, not many people had heard of this film. However, the accolades and praise for CHICO & RITA were tough to ignore. Even though the big animation films are always enjoyable, I've taken it upon myself to seek out the smaller gems like this one.

CLUELESS
One of the 90s classics that I always seem to stop on when it's playing on an idle Saturday afternoon. I always loved the fun adventures of Cher in her Beverly Hills life, but when I found out it was based on Jane Austen's novel, Emma, then it made reading Emma in college that much easier.

That's it for me this week. I'm sure my cohort will be back next week with another awesome theme.
