After All Of The Teaser Teasers, Comes The Teaser Trailer For PROMETHEUS

I'm glad that marketing departments are getting lazy to the point of releasing teaser trailers for teaser trailers. Today we got the release for the new Ridley Scott movie, PROMETHEUS. This non-Alien prequel has been the source of much speculation. Now that it's finally here, check it out after the jump.

Just like everyone else, I have noticed the similarities to ALIEN. Things like the titles and the overall tone of the trailer does reminds me of the seminal sci-fi/horror flick. I would not mind seeing the origins of the aliens, but just like with Hannibal Lecter in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, there was always a great allure to not knowing how the monster came to be, and I can imagine that if this is just an ALIEN origin story, it will be disappointing. I would be more interested in seeing this movie be some sort of parallel story, taking place in the same universe, but not necessarily having the same characters or aliens.

Regardless, the trailer looks awesome; the Halo-like ship that blows up was a big of a highlight for me. I do like that this trailer show nothing that would spoil the movie. However, can we please STOP using the Hans Zimmer INCEPTION alarm noise in trailers? It was old almost a year ago and it's downright distracting now.

EDIT: Why not check out the original ALIEN teaser below for reference's sake!

PROMETHEUS comes out on the best of days June 8 2012. It is directed by Ridley Scott, it stars Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace.
