THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Trailer Drops! The Internet Freaks Out!

Javi here. Late last night, the Warner Brothers YouTube account posted the third trailer for the final Batman movie by director Christopher Nolan, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. What's interesting about this trailer is that once again, Bruce Wayne and Batman are not really the focus of it. Instead, you have Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway as John Blake and Selina Kyle taking precedence and we hear that Bane actually sounds pretty clear. In addition, the YouTube page confirms the name of Marion Cotillard's character, Miranda Tate. But you don't want to hear me talk about it. Hit the jump for the trailer.

As I was tweeting to one of my friends, I find it interesting that they just might be able to pull off a Knightfall type story line. For those that don't read comics, Knightfall was a series during the 90's where Bane came into the picture and one of the first things that he does is break Batman's back, effectively taking him out of commission indefinitely. There were big repercussions to this and it might be possible that this particular story will give us light as to the actual plot of the movie and according to my friend @Gholson, it might give a hint of the role that John Blake will play during the movie. You can check out a a synopsis of the series here.

Back to the trailer. I'm really loving all of the nutty visuals. The plane being dangled and broken into various pieces just to free Bane, the two bridges exploding, the riot, and of course, the Batwing. This is going to be a very expensive looking movie.

What's interesting is that the trailer hints at the fact that there might be a point where Bruce is not only kidnapped and tortured, but the fact that he will die trying to defeat Bane. That would be so ballsy and I would love the movie for it. But let's see what happens.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES comes out July 20th, 2012. It is directed by Christopher Nolan, it stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard and Morgan Freeman.
