Netflix Instant: Cool TV and Movie Picks

Jonesy here. I hope your summer is a lot cooler than down here in Texas. We've hit our annual time of multiple days over 100 degrees, so it's always tempting to just stay inside and wade off the heat. Here are some picks for this weekend if the heat is getting to you like it is me!

A group of students are randomly selected by the government to fight each other to the death. Sound familiar? It should, but BATTLE ROYALE was around before THE HUNGER GAMES was a twinkle in Suzanne Collins' eye. Brutal, violent, and definitely not for kids.

I admit that before this film, I did not know who Tim and Eric were. And even after this film, I'm still not sure who they are. I'm not a frequenter of Adult Swim, so I felt some of the jokes were lost on me. However, I did laugh and had fun with this insanely silly film.

I first caught this during a free HBO weekend and became absolutely fascinated. It's the first film to introduce me to the technical term "fraking" (before I had only heard it on Battlestar Galactica). It's a frightening look at what fraking does surface water, and it includes the famous scene where a resident sets his tap water on fire.
