Netflix Instant TV & Movie Picks - Vincent Price man-crush edition!

This week we'll finish up with another horror movie-related posts. I wanted to highlight some Vincent Price movies that are on Netflix. As a sort of preview for my wrap up of my 31 days of horror movies, I have to say that Price is probably the most pleasant surprise. I've always heard about his work and his clout as a genre actor but I'd never seen any of his movies! His moustache is impeccable and coincidentally all of his movies have some of the best posters I've seen in a while. I know there's more to this actor than just the movies I'll be highlighting but hopefully they will serve as a good starting point as well for you guys. Check them out after the break.

This movie was my first exposure to Mr. Price. This Roger Corman-directed adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's work is actually two of his short stories mashed up together. It features Prices as Prince Prospero as an insanely sadistic and arrogant ruler who takes a young woman captive while this red death ravages the land. The movie is gorgeous in its costume design and especially its use of color.

You will not find any traces of Chris Kattan in this story! The rather classier movie has the exact premise of the 1999 movie that most people have seen. This one plays more on the paranoia and lack of trust that comes from when a group of strangers are holed up in a house and people start to drop dead. The "special effects" have not aged very gracefully, but the short run time keeps the movie going at a nice pace.

Yet another one of his movies that was re-made, this is a version of the "I AM LEGEND" story that has been done more recently by Will Smith. This one sticks closer to the source material, focusing on the last non-vampire human in the world and what his impact on the new society is.

That's it for me, guys. Jonesy is up next week with a great non-themed post!
