Netflix Instant: Movie & TV Picks: Stand-up edition!

I love comedy. I love listening to stand up sets, listening to various comedy podcasts, and watching specials. I'm actually amazed at the great titles that are available on Netflix. Here are some of my favorite ones:

Patton Oswalt is one of the best comedians/nerds around and this movie depicts a night of his Comedians of Comedy tour where he tried to showcase up and coming comedians and also heavy hitters like Brian Posehn and David Cross. One of my personal favorites is Maria Bamford's set. If you're not familiar with her she's mainly a comedian but does a lot of great voice work in various cartoons including Adventure Time. Also, very strangely available are the COMEDIANS OF COMEDY: THE MOVIE documentary and COMEDIANS OF COMEDY: LIVE AT THE EL REY.

I know that being depressed and talking about how neurotic and depressed you are is the big thing in comedy right now. While there's some still self deprecating humor in Aziz Ansari's stand up, he has a way with mixing pop culture references, and a weird way of describing the hilarity of every day life that makes me want to listen and watch this set over and over again. While his style is very "of its day," Ansari gets Internet culture in a way that almost mirrors his character from Parks and Recreation, Tom. Besides, I know you guys want to know what's going on with his fat cousin Harris.

Out of the many many night time hosts, I think Craig Ferguson is one of my favorites. I haven't personally seen this one yet, since it just came out, but I'm sure it's going to be great.

That's it for me. Next week is Jonesy's turn!
