Alamo Drafthouse DFW Special Programming: Halloween Edition!

The month of October is a special time of year. It's full of old horror films and things that go bump in the night. The Drafthouse always presents get monthly programming, and their Halloween programming is no different. There will be girly nights, quote-a-longs, 35mm and VHS presentations.

Here's the trailer of what's coming up:

Alamo Richardson Special Programming:
HALLOWEEN
October 2013

One of the best times of year to be at Alamo Drafthouse is leading up to Halloween! So many movies have been made to thrill, excite, stir and, let’s be honest, just plain scare the bejeebers out of audiences since the days of early cinema. At Alamo (100 S. Central Expressway #14, Richardson, TX 75080) this month, you’ll get a lot of the usual-suspect scary movies as well as other classics that don’t automatically pop to mind as being classic Halloween films.

In programming October, programmer, James Wallace explored the breadth of Halloween-centric movies—not just the all-time great Horror films, which include all-time great films that take place on or around Halloween like E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, THE CROW and DONNIE DARKO, just to name a few—coincidentally three films that have given us some of the best Halloween costumes ideas year after year. As always, we encourage our audience to come in costume to complete the experience.

“Of course, our Halloween Horror programming all started with John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN on Halloween itself. But because we need some tricks to go along with our treats, we’re also having our friends at Master Pancake make a trip up to bring you their unique brand of movie mockery of Michael Myers the Sunday before Halloween,” said Wallace.  “If you’ve ever seen a Master Pancake show, just imagine the hilarity that the long, silent shots of Michael starring creepily could provide!”

Halloween-centric Horror titles throughout the month include:
  • ·      Rob Zombie’s HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES
  • ·      PUMPKINHEAD in 35mm
  • ·      THE MONSTER SQUAD in 35mm
  • ·      CREEPSHOW in 35mm
  • ·      NIGHT OF THE DEMONS in 35mm
  • ·      Girlie Night: HOCUS POCUS
  • ·      TRICK’R’TREAT

Spooky, fun family-friendly All Hallow’s Eve films including:
  • The Cartoon Cereal Party: Halloween Special Extravaganza, an all-you-can-eat-cereal grub fest featuring some of the all-time great animated Halloween specials. (Really, this is as much for kids as it is kids at heart).
  •  FREE Kid’s Camp title:  MONSTER HOUSE and THE ADDAMS FAMILY

Classic Universal Monster Matinee Sunday Series:
