The Local Haps: June 10th - June 16th

It's looking like we've got a busy week coming up today! Check out some of the best film-events in Dallas coming up after the break.

Tuesday, June 10th
ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE: Tonight's VHS-only series, Video Vortex will be screening MEMORIAL VALLEY MASSACRE at 9:00pm. Admission is $1. And as always, there will be Tiki Bingo Night over at Glass Half Full.

TWILITE LOUNGE: Tonight is the inaugural screening of one of my favorite bars, the Twilite Lounge, summer film series. It will run every Tuesday and will be completely free. Tonight the movie will be the highly quotable Tarantino classic, PULP FICTION starting at 9:00pm.

Wednesday, June 11th
ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE: Before he was an Internet a-hole, Kevin Smith was a scrappy young director whose debut, CLERKS was all the rage in the indie-world. You can revisit the black and white classic at 7:00pm

Thursday, June 12th
ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE: Tonight there will be 2 double features going down. First, we have the HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON double feature at 6:15pm then  21 and 22 JUMP STREET marathon at 7:30pm. In addition, there will be an Action Pack Quote Along for one of the few good Mike Myers movie, WAYNE'S WORLD.

TEXAS THEATRE: Tonight will feature the only screening of TEST  which sounds pretty interesting. Dealing with a San Francisco dance company member, Frankie, in the mid 1980's, as he wrestles with the new HIV test making the rounds and what taking the test will mean for him.

Friday, June 13th
ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE: On this very spoooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooky day, you can stay up a little late and watch the original FRIDAY THE 13th at 11pm.

TEXAS THEATRE:  Tonight you can check out two new films screening throughout the weekend, at 7:00pm is THE CASE AGAINST 8, about the California court case fighting to overturn a ban on gay marriage. Our very own Jonesy reviewed this for DIFF 2014 here. Then at 9:15pm, the new James McAvoy joint, FILTH.

ANGELIKA DALLAS: As part of the Angelika After Hours series with a Steven Spielberg theme, they will be screening E.T. THE EXTRATERRESTRIAL at 11:30pm.

Saturday, June 14th
TEXAS THEATRE: This should be a fun AND emotionally devastating evening with a 35mm print of seminal drug drama, TRAINSPOTTING, followed immediately by a Britpop dance party. It all starts at 9:15pm.

Sunday, June 15th
ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE: As part of the June "Dynamic Duos" theme, you can watch INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE at 12:30pm.

TEXAS THEATRE: Today marks the debut screening of THE PAST IS A GROTESQUE ANIMAL which follows psych-pop band, Of Montreal with a heavy focus on their frontman Kevin Barnes at 7:15pm. I'm a huge fan of their music so this will be a must-see.

Monday, June 16th
ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE: Apparently something called the "World" "Cup" is going on. I hear it's a big deal. Anyway, the Drafthouse will be screening the shows at various times during the day.
