The Local Haps: April 27th - May 3rd.

This week we have a sleuth of horror and superhero-based programming in light of Texas Frightmare Weekend and the upcoming AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON release. Check out all of the good stuff after the break.

Monday, April 27th
Alamo Drafthouse: As we're ramping up for Texas Frightmare Weekend, the Drafthouse will begin a series of classic horror movies this week. The first one up is the reason why you never saw your little sister's doll the same way again, CHILD'S PLAY at 9:00 pm. Before that, at 7:00 pm, there's a screening of the car-crash-filled DEATH RACE 2000.

Tuesday, April 28th
Alamo Drafthouse: Continuing the TFW week is the Girly Night screening of THE CRAFT at 7:00 pm. Then at 8:00 pm, there's a screening of this guy "Steven" "Spielberg" 's DTV movie, DUEL about a man stalked by a deranged 18-wheeler driver. And finally, at 9:00 pm, there's the the monthly Vinegar Syndrome, this month is MADMAN another entry into the distinguished summer camp slasher subgenre.

Texas Theatre: Starting tonight there will be a couple of 35mm screenings of the classic George Miller joint, MAD MAX at 9:00 pm. You also have a chance to win the recent Shout Factory release on Blu-ray.

Wednesday, April 29th
Alamo Drafthouse: 1, 2...Freddy's coming for you in this sequel NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE at 8:35 pm. Then we have what could be the 2nd best superhero movie screening this week, TURKISH CAPTAIN AMERICA AND SANTO VS SPIDER-MAN via the Video Vortex series, at 9:00 pm.

Texas Theatre: In addition to the MAD MAX, there's also a one night screening of the recently re-released ROAR from Drafthouse Films. The Drafthouse itself is playing this as well but unless you're willing to stay up super late on a school night, this might be a better screening.

Thursday, April 30th
Alamo Drafthouse: Wrapping up the TFW week, there's still tickets left for the 35mm screening of SCREAM with Neve Campbell at 6:00 pm.

Texas Theatre: It seems TFW wants to keep the party going by hosting events at the Theatre. Tonight's special screening will be SPIDER BABY with star Sid Haig in a very rare 35mm print. The movie starts at 7:20 pm.

Saturday, May 2nd
Granada Theater: To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the time-travelin' classic, BACK TO THE FUTURE, the Granada along with the Dallas Film Society will be hosting a double feature tonight starting at 7:00 pm.

Sunday, May 3rd
Granada Theater: In partnership with local radio station, JACK FM, there's a double screening of 80's classics, WHEN HARRY MET SALLY and THE GOONIES. The nostalgia will begin at 2:00 pm.
