A FIELD IN ENGLAND Trailer Is Haunting AND Confusing

This seems to be the month to talk about English director Ben Wheatley. His amazing movie, THE KILL LIST just came on to Netflix Watch Instant, his newer movie, SIGHTSEERS is currently out on VOD  and today, thanks to the YouTube page for Picutrehouse Cinemas, we have a new UK trailer for his next movie, A FIELD IN ENGLAND. As to what exactly is going on, I have no clue... The synopsis is just as confusing but all the more intriguing. Check out the trailer below.

Theres' some intense imagery and monologuing going on and I'm all about it. I will admit that a lot of the love I have for the trailer is just blind faith on Wheately, but I can't wait to see this movie as soon as I can. Drafthouse Films will be releasing the film here in North America later this year, and for now you can read the synopsis below:

England: 1648 AD. A small group of deserters flee from a raging battle through an overgrown field. They are captured by two men: O'Neil and Cutler. O'Neil (Michael Smiley), an alchemist, forces the group to aid him in his search to find a hidden treasure that he believes is buried in the field. Crossing a vast mushroom circle, which provides their first meal, the group quickly descend into a chaos of arguments, fighting and paranoia, and, as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, they slowly become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field. A Field In England is a psychedelic trip into magic and madness from Ben Wheatley – award-winning director of Down Terrace, Kill List and Sightseers.

A FIELD IN ENGLAND is directed by Ben Wheately, stars Julian Barratt, Michael Smiley, Reece Shearsmith, and comes out late 2013 in the US and July 13th, 2013 in the UK.
