The Local Haps: October 27th - November 2nd

It's Halloween week! You bought your candy yet? How awesome is your costume? There are plenty of excellent film events this week, including the showing of one of my favorite Halloween comedies as my pick of the week. So stuff as much candy in your mouth as you can and enjoy!

Monday, October 27th
Alamo Drafthouse: More sing-along goodness again with LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at 7 p.m. But if 80's comedy is more your speed, then there's a GHOSTBUSTERS quote-along at 8 p.m. for you.

Tuesday, October 28th
Alamo Drafthouse: You need to stop making fetch happen and don't wear pink (because we only wear pink on Wednesdays) and get yourself to the MEAN GIRLS quote-along at 7 p.m. Or you can get your 90's satire on with a presentation of SCREAM at 8 p.m.

Angelika Dallas: Get your culture on by seeing THE TEMPEST on screen at 7 p.m.

The Texas Theatre: A presentation of a Fantastic Fest feature, THE STRANGE COLOR OF YOUR BODY'S TEARS, will be shown at 5 p.m. More Halloween goodness with a Director's cut version of NIGHTBREED at 7:15 p.m.

Wednesday, October 29th

Alamo Drafthouse: My pick of the week! Halloween season isn't complete without a viewing of HOCUS POCUS. This film originally came out during the summer months, weird, but now has an almost cult following because who can't resist the Sanderson Sisters. It shows tonight at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Granada Theater: Grab your best mullet wig for a FREE showing of  the LOST BOYS starting at 8:30 at the Sundown at the Granada. Whiskey specials will also be available.

Thursday, October 30th

Alamo Drafthouse: Have you practiced your thriller dance enough? If so, then come and sing and dance along to the Michael Jackson Sing-along Dance Party at 7 p.m. White glove optional.

Angelika Dallas: Hitchcocktober is coming to an end, but you can still catch DIAL M FOR MURDER at 8 p.m.

The Texas Theatre: Dan Harmon, creator of Community, is a polarizing figure. If you've ever been curious about the man behind that TV series, then the documentary HARMONTOWN will be showing at 7 p.m.

Friday, October 31st

Alamo Drafthouse: For the Horror Anthology lover or just movie lover, a special presentation of one of the recent and great Horror anthologies, TRICK 'R TREAT, will be showing at 7 p.m.

Angelika Dallas: After you put your trick or treaters to bed after their sugar crash, you can catch a special showing of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD at 11:30 p.m.

The Texas Theatre: A unique presentation of a historical view of witchcraft through the ages. The movie is called HAXAN: WITCHCRAFT THROUGH THE AGES and shows at 10:30 p.m.

Saturday, November 1st

Alamo Drafthouse: A special presentation of THE DARK KNIGHT DOUBLE FEATURE will commence at 11:30 a.m.

The Texas Theatre: If you need some Halloween detoxing, come check out the documentary, AWAKE: THE LIFE OF YOGANANDA at 4 p.m., which is about the woman who brought yoga to the west in the 1920's.
